This innovative program aims to address the needs of dental practitioners at enhancing their knowledge and clinical skills in Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry and creating a platform of aesthetic dentists who will be able to achieve excellence in aesthetic dentistry, thus improving the dental services. This comprehensive program comprises didactic components that consist of lectures, group discussions/case studies with clinical evidence-based, practical and clinical sessions to incorporate aesthetic elements into their daily dental practice that focus on the aesthetic value, using the latest techniques and methods to allow participants to gain experience and optimize their knowledge in addressing the more challenging cases of Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be able to:
PLO1. Acquire the didactic knowledge and clinical skills of the principles of Aesthetics in dental practice.
PLO2. Demonstrate competencies and skills in carrying out challenging clinical cases.
PLO3. Initiate and complete a smile analysis to obtain the best aesthetic result.
PLO4. Ability to apply functional anatomy to the field of clinical dental aesthetics.
PLO5. Formulate a sound treatment plan and evaluate the aesthetic result of the treatment upon completion.
Beyond the didactic components of the program, participants will be exposed to practical sessions / hands on and clinical sessions on Aesthetic continuum to prepare different types of Aesthetic and Prosthetic restorations.
All lectures, clinical simulations and clinical sessions are assessed on a regular basis to ensure the level of didactic and clinical competencies, with emphasize on clinical case analysis.
The last module of the program (module 8) will consist of written assessment as well as clinical case presentations and discussion before an international jury.
Morning Session: Lectures: Dental Photography
Afternoon Session: Hands on Dental Photography
Considering the evolution of the dental practice towards digital dentistry, it is important to consider the use of digital photography for documentation and referral purposes; participants will acquire the skills of digital photography through proper positioning, framing and use of lighting for successful intra oral photography. Participants will have demonstration on the techniques of digital photography, using digital camera and relevant accessories (i.e.: proper lens, ring flash etc…).
Each participant will practice on his/her own digital camera the basic use of the camera, using proper framing, lighting and capturing images.
Morning Session:Lectures: Digital Smile Design
Afternoon Session: Hands on Digital Smile Design
Smile designing is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach towards aesthetic improvement.
Participants will acquire the aesthetic principles and knowledge of smile design, thus, developing artistic capacities to better understanding the patients’ emotional perception.
Each participant will practice on implementing a step by step smile design analysis digitally through clinical simulations.
Lectures: Aesthetic Direct Restorations
Participants will discover the novel of the World of Adhesives, the real beauty of minimally invasive aesthetic restorations (e.g. Composite Veneers, Composite Overlay), shade selection, layering technique, contouring, finishing & polishing. Throughout these sessions, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their skills, thus improving their aesthetic capabilities and mastering direct restorations in the aesthetic zone.
The relevant Clinical Simulations will provide participants with the opportunity to capitalize on the knowledge acquired in the previous sessions through clinical simulations, working on phantom heads that include composite veneers preparations, mastering the layering technique in veneers, adhesives, management of Class IV, diastema closure, peg shape lateral incisors as well as contouring, finishing and polishing of the aesthetic restorations.
Lectures: Porcelain Veneers, Part I
This module will provide a systematic and comprehensive approach from veneer preparations to a successful veneer delivery, thus, achieving a natural look aesthetic veneer result.
Clinical Simulations: Porcelain Veneers, Part II
This workshop module will provide participants with the opportunity to enhance their clinical skills on porcelain veneers preparations. Each participant will have the opportunity to prepare teeth for porcelain veneers, (e.g.an 8 units’ case for a “Smile Makeover”), utilizing diagnostic wax ups, and two putty indices in addition to tissue retraction, impression taking, temporization techniques & cementation.
Morning Session: Lectures: Aesthetic Management of RCT Teeth
Afternoon Session: Lectures: Onlays, Inlays & Overlays
Morning Session: Clinical Simulations Aesthetic Management of RCT Teeth on
Afternoon Session: Clinical Simulations on Inlays, Onlays & Overlays
Aesthetic Management of RCT Teeth
Participants will get acquainted with the concepts of Endo Aesthetics, management of endodontically treated teeth, Endocrowns as a new crown alternative for RCT teeth and techniques for custom made posts and cores preparations and cementation as well as selecting the most suitable treatment option. Clinical cases will be discussed to highlight the major aspects of aesthetic management of root canal treated teeth.
The hands-on Clinical simulations will give participants practical experience with the contemporary techniques for restoring endodontically treated teeth with a step by step application of various posts insertion such as fabrication of custom made using Duralay, fiber-reinforced resin posts and bonded composite cores, impression taking for custom made post and core and cementation technique for reinforced fiber posts.
Inlays, Onlays & Overlay
Inlays, Onlays & Overlay preparations are considered as a minimally invasive aesthetic dental treatment. Participants will learn the principles of onlays and inlays preparations, rational for selection of their preparation, shade selection, impression taking, temporization and sensitive free easily bonded cementation.
During the Clinical Simulations, participants will implement a step by step of Inlays, Onlays & Overlay preparations, practicing the impression taking, temporization and cementation.
Lectures & Clinical Simulations: Prosthetic Management of Implants & Soft Tissue Management
Prosthetic Management of Implants & Pink Aesthetics
This module will address the prosthetic management of implants & multiple facets of dental implants from an aesthetic approach, assessing the new trends in Aesthetic dental implant and implants in the Aesthetic zone with emphasize on the inter disciplinary relations and soft tissue management to achieve better aesthetic results. A step by step implant placement will be developed in a systematic approach. These aesthetic reconstructions must ensure long term successful results within the surrounding soft tissues to avoid any future complications.
During the clinical simulations, participants will be able to practice a soft tissue management and suturing techniques. Demonstration and Hands on practice on sheep heads on differing suturing methods. Hands on practice of harvesting free gingival and connective tissue grafts for improved soft tissue management purposes.
Day 1: Lectures: Full Mouth Reconstruction
Day 2: Clinical Simulations
Full Mouth Reconstruction
This module will expose participants to most challenging dental practice that is full mouth reconstruction will step by step approach with focus on facebow transfer, bite registration, occlusion, centric relation and other related parameters to ensure successful full mouth reconstruction in a more comprehensive and integrated approach.
